One of the core values of our flight night series is to spotlight producers that are a bit under the radar - those that are producing quality wines that punch above their weight class (great values) and otherwise easy to find in Ohio. Sottimano is exactly that and we cannot wait to share these very limited wines. Andrea Sottimano and his father Rino produce wines of outstanding quality from thirteen lovingly cared for hectares in the Cottà, Currà, Fausoni, Pajoré and Basarin crus in the Treiso and Neive townships. Their Barbarescos are elegant, evocative, subtle and yet hearty – to taste these crus side-by-side is to reply with a resounding YES to skeptics of terroir that question whether differences of only 200 meters does matter! For this particular event we will be presenting an oak-aged Barbera “Pairolero,” the Langhe Nebbiolo made entirely from declassified Barbaresco fruit from the Basarin vineyard and that highly sough after Basarin Barbaresco itself. These are perfect for the holidays with their classic expressions and elegant labels.

There is no denying that Beaujolais is THE wine of the fall season. From easy drinking and fresh nouveau expressions arriving in late November to the more complex and elegant Cru styles, the region produces some of the best wine in the world made from the Gamay grape. The wine is known for its fruity flavors, often featuring notes of raspberry, cherry, and banana, with a characteristic freshness and low tannins, making it very approachable. Gamay grapes thrive in the granite soils of Beaujolais, where they benefit from a unique vinification technique called carbonic maceration. This process enhances the wine's fruity characteristics and results in a smooth, easy-drinking style. And perhaps it’s best characteristic, Beaujolais pairs exceptionally well with a VARIETY of foods, making it a versatile choice for meals. We’re thrilled to share some great new arrivals to the Coast bottle shop with you.
